Wanted: Warm Woman

Woke up yesterday morning feeling rough, headache, snotty nose, aching joints……. today still pretty much the same, the worse thing is I’m skint and can’t get into town until next tuesday to get any hot lemon type meds….
And trying to sleep with a constantly runny nose…… forget it…….!!

 

No Pottering Today….

Cold, wet, windy and overcast…..
Plus, as well as a painful knee, a ripped tendon in my left bicep and a slight cold I now have a painful neck, obviously ‘cricked’ it at some point…. even small head movements are incredibly painful….
Its a good job I aint a horse, I’d have been shot by now….

Yep, today is ‘National No Smoking Day’
Like I give a damn, its the only bad habit I’ve got left…..

Been awake all night again, this sedate, stranded lifestyle has its good points and a few bad points too, the good, a safe, warm, clean home…. the bad, one bus to Brigg six days a week, a huge gas bill, too much time in front of this computer for ‘online company’…….
And its bloody frozen outside again this morning, white over with frost and decidedly ‘not going out weather’….
Oh well, I’ll be awake a while yet no doubt so time for a cuppa…..

Hatches Battened Down…

Shopping done yesterday, stocked up now for the best part of a week or more, the weather forecast says we have snow on its way and its gonna be the coldest winter for 13 years…..
And this is ‘global warming’? personally I don’t see any warming taking place, luckily my new home is easy to keep warm, even if the gas bill is huge…. bugger them, they make enough profit so I’m gonna pay them ‘on the drip’ so I don’t add interest to their already over the top profits….
Anyway, its Sunday, the first of february, the high point of this month looks like being more ‘kisses’ etc from a facebook friend in Montgomery Alabama, might even get a fellow card collector or two to join the ‘fun’ and start sending me stuff too…
Trouble is I’m a ‘typical’ Virgo, critical and tending to weigh up everything on its merits before committing to any action, true friends remain true friends until they prove otherwise then I have no second thoughts in deleting them from my life….
I’m long overdue one of my ‘deletion’ times……

On a lighter note, the bird feeders are still getting used on an hourly basis, I put the new bird table out last year but it needs at least another four or five coats of preservative, even though the manufacturers ’say’ its pre-treated….. still trying to beat Daffy on the sparrow Hawk but I think I saw a Kestrel in a tree yesterday, here in Lincs we see them daily doing that great ‘hover’ thing alongside road borders etc but they tend to go for live prey, not feeders… so the one I saw might have been checking out the birds stuffing themselves at my expense!!!
Still waiting on getting my knee fixed so mobility is still an issue, and to think I used to love walking, now I have to second think a trip to the bloody loo….
I wish I could win the lottery, I’d visit friends all over the world, conclude all previous hassles with folks I hate and die a happy man… eventually!!

 

Damn the cold…..

Awake all night again, looked outside around eight this morning and everything was white over again, outside temp’ a chilly minus 5F….

Got my first proper gas and electricity bills for this place on saturday lunchtime…. not nice, gas is the worse one with it being gas central heating and water heating, I could do with a soak in the bath but now not sure I can afford the luxury, time to make some cutbacks I guess, no more treats, no more booze…..

Things are looking up with the birds, seems to be getting a lot busier recently with the continuing cold weather, taking a que from Daffy I’ve listed the ‘visitors’…..

Great Tits – Numerous
Long Tailed Tits – x4+
Coal Tits – Numerous
Blue Tits – x4-6 usually
Green Finches – Numerous
Wrens – x2
Assorted Sparrows – Numerous
Dunnocks – X1 or 2…. Hard to tell as they hide so well !
Wood Pigeons – Numerous fat ones…. LOL
Collared Doves – x6+
Blackbirds – Numerous
Thrush – x1 so far, good for getting rid of snails!!
Starlings – Numerous…. noisy, greedy little buggers!
Crows – Were numerous until I stopped using ‘tray’ feeders

No doubt there’s some I’ve missed but thats the list of regular sightings!

Time to make a coffee and go chat to the lovely Dee on msn messenger…..

Me No Likee…..

Six O’clock this morning, I’d been awake most of the night….. went into the kitchen to make a coffee, grab some painkillers and refill the biscuit barrel and just happened to glance outside…..
White over and thick fog…… came back and checked the weather station, minus 7F outside, that was the last reading before the battery in the sensor died or froze!
Coffee, a few dunked digestives, pills and a peruse of them Mad Hatter type folks, then back to my nice warm cosy bed…… until just after 4pm
Its now 8pm, I’m gonna be wide awake all night and I must go shopping tomorrow….. so what the hell can I do until 10am tomorrow when I head for the bus stop??
[Suggestions on an unopened bottle of decent beer please...]

 

Who Turned The Lights Out ?

Monday evening, quite happily ‘chuntering’ away on the computer, waiting for DeYank to come back so I could send him some files he wanted……
Popped into the kitchen to make a cuppa, noted the time: 8.15pm…..
Back to the computer, read a few posts on Mad Hatters…. then…..
Darkness…… light……dark…light….dark……………….
8.22pm and the lights went out……. and stayed out for ten hours and a smidgin over ten minutes……. luckily I had candles to hand and a gas camping stove for a hot drink, about 9.30pm the residents association folks were doing the rounds of the bungalows to see if we were ok, did we need candles etc…….
I went to bed at 1am this morning ‘cos it was starting to get chilly with no central heating……. woken up just after 6.30am by the heating pump firing up the system……
2009, technology ? Bollocks!
Still old folks, disabled folks and others have to suffer because STILL the power companies cannot do anything about a bloody power cut !!

 

‘ A Shoppin’ and a Boppin’

Upbeat title, shite day……
Went shopping this morning because I had to or go hungry, bloody freezing out, heavy frost and around minus 2F, roads like wet glass, idiots playing the ‘look at me I’m a fast driving wanker’ game, already a smash just around the corner from here, car turning left onto my road slid sidyways into one coming in the opposite direction, turning left one was no doubt going way too fast for the road conditions….

Oh, and my mother spoke to me (lower case ‘mother’ intentional), she was in Tesco’s doing some shopping……. this is the woman, along with her husband who decided back in mid August to have nothing more to do with me re: ‘normal parent/son’ type stuff…. I thought she had a bloody cheek after all the shite I’ve been through, culminating in my parents attitude, to be honest I’m a lot happier not worrying about them anymore….

Another crappo instance, couple of nights ago a ‘friend’ I know in Leeds came online in messenger stating she was ‘at the end of her tether’ and a large amount of paracetamols were the only way to cure it….. like the mug I am I spent the next over 3 hours chatting to her, cheering her up etc….. at the very end of the chat she freely admitted she was lying to me when she said I’d helped……. that was upsetting for me as those of you who know whats happened to me over the last few years will understand….. basically I’ll never make the grade as a Samaritan, and if it comes about she did top herself it aint through lack of trying on my bloody part!
(Hanging is quicker P if you read this…. Paracetamol can take up to five days of agony to kill you!)

Anyway, on to a lighter note, you’ll notice, I hope (wake up you at the back!) a new link in my blogroll, tis Jason, the old JC74 from P27 and 20six days, seems the skulking little thing has been on WordPress and couldn’t be arsed to browse for known names for quite a while…. I don’t recall what her name is Jason but PUT HER DOWN AND PAY ATTENTION! ( lucky barsteward! LOL)

Righty O…. Facebook says I have fish, plants and crimbo gifts to accept so I’m off…. (no Daffy, I ALWAYS smell like this…)

Frozen Outside…….

Another sleepless night due to too much daytime sleep while suffering from a heavy cold last week, I’ve been pottering around quietly for a few hours (its now nearly 0530hrs) sorting paperwork for shredding etc, needed to put some stuff in the bin simply to get it out from under my feet having run out of flat surfaces to dump stuff on temporarily……..

And guess what…… theres a heavy frost outside and its bloody *COLD*  !!

Sods law aint it, this morning I have to go shopping because I’ve just about run out of essentials….

Next job – hunt the thermals…….
